“Can you measure heat transfer using press pads?”

Yes, it is possible to measure heat transfer using press pads. 

We have a very simple solution, and that is to insert individual thermocouples in the required positions during the installation of the press pads and press plates. A battery-operated temperature indicator can then be connected to each individual thermocouple in turn using a simple plug. 

The thermocouples will usually last for a sufficient time to allow appraisal of the temperature difference between the indicated platen temperature and the inside press plate temperature. This difference, once established, will be constant and further monitoring is not necessary.
