On September 3rd, 2007 Heimbach took over 100 % of the shares of Marathon Belting Ltd. Both buyer and seller have agreed confidentiality regarding the purchase price.
With this acquisition Heimbach Group (www.heimbach-group.com) becomes the world market leader in press pads for the wood processing industry and will considerably expand its geographical presence. In addition to the enlargement in the product portfolio of technical textiles, Heimbach Group is entering into further industries and applications in the aluminium industry and materials-handling technologies.
On March 31st 2008, Heimbach acquired 100% of the shares of Industrie Tessili Bresciane S.p.A. (ITB), Merone (Como), Italy, following the strategic expansion of the Technical Textiles business segment.
ITB was founded in 1962 and is one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of woven fabrics, needle felts and conveyor belts for the following industries: textiles, battery, aluminium and leather.
With the integration of ITB it is envisaged that the Heimbach Group will, in the business segment of Technical Textiles, achieve net sales of approximately EUR 25 million with circa 220 employees at the four sites in Neu-Moresnet (B), Rochdale (UK), Merone (I) and Lorrach (D).
